Founded in 2017 by Kiki Lally, a local Calgary mom, Pinnovate was created to bring the community together through art and connection. Starting as a Pinterest-inspired art studio, Pinnovate has evolved into a licensed event and education space offering world-class art programming for adults and children. Despite facing numerous challenges in 2020 as an event space, including multiple shut downs and the risk of closure,
Pinnovate pivoted to create DIY Delivery, a successful online business that provides craft kits and virtual events to its community. This pivot earned Pinnovate national recognition, including being featured in the Globe and Mail and Global News. DIY Delivery now ships its kits and subscription boxes across North America.
At Pinnovate, we believe in using our studio space to “Create a Difference”. Our team, comprised of local artists and art degree holders, is dedicated to providing exceptional art programming that fosters creativity and inspires students to continue their artistic pursuits. We also host local artisans and makers in our space to showcase the talent in our city. Our mission has been recognized by numerous organizations, including being named the winner of the 2020 Access and Achievement Award by the City of Calgary, the Children’s Best Inclusive Art Programs by Calgary’s Child Magazine (2019), and the Outstanding Community Contribution Award by the Between Friends Organization.
Join us in our fun, joyful, creative, and bright yellow space, where we strive to “CREATE SOMETHING AMAZING”. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
CREATIVE DIRECTOR & BOSSLADY
Kiki Lally is a proud Calgarian who took a leap of faith in 2016 by leaving her career in aviation to start her own business, Pinnovate DIY Studio. Inspired by the lack of artistic options in the city, she combined her love for crafting and DIY projects to create a unique and diverse artistic experience.
In the five years since its establishment, Pinnovate has been recognized for its innovation, being nominated for the RBC Entrepreneur of the Year award and featured in the Globe and Mail, AFCI Global Magazine, as well as appearing on Global News Morning and CTV Morning Live.
Faced with the challenges of the pandemic, Kiki and her team adapted by launching DIY Delivery, a business offering arts and craft kits shipped across North America and supporting local charities.
At Pinnovate, Kiki leads by example with her philosophy that “no artwork is ever done,” constantly pushing her team to strive for excellence and provide new and innovative art programs for both children and adults.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING LEAD
Chrissy joined the Pinnovate team in 2017, bringing a wealth of creativity and experience to the table. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree and a successful photography business under her belt, she was ready to make her mark.
She quickly became the driving force behind our Littles’ Arts University (LAU) program and children’s art classes, which now offer over 10 weekly sessions. Additionally, she leads our LAU Teen program, providing mentorship and guidance through the help of local artists.
When she’s not teaching in the studio, you can find Chrissy sharing her creative skills on The Pinnovate YouTube channel, where she hosts instructional videos for at-home crafting projects from DIY Delivery.
Her infectious energy and love of art make Chrissy a beloved member of the Pinnovate team and a familiar face to anyone who’s attended one of our events, adult workshops, or children’s camps.
Lena joined Pinnovate in June 2020, bringing a wealth of artistic experience and a passion for working with children. As she was completing her Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts, Lena took charge of our virtual children’s programming during the pandemic, and her hard work and dedication led to her becoming our Studio Manager. Lena is highly skilled in operation systems and organization, making her a key player in the success of Pinnovate.
Over the past 3 years, Lena has made significant contributions to the growth of our business, including playing a vital role in the creation of DIY Delivery and improving business operating systems. Her youthful energy and creativity can be seen in her marketing campaigns and the coordination of all events in the studio. Lena’s impact on the children she works with is immeasurable, and her enthusiasm for the arts is contagious.
